Series 02 · Umbrellas and wet streets

Rainy Season

2022–2024 · 6 frames · Chengdu

Chengdu’s rain is fine and it lasts. Umbrellas, ponchos, puddles and people drawn closer by the weather are what I’ve loved shooting most these past few years.

It rains for half the year in Chengdu. Never hard, but everything is always damp. I go out carrying nothing but rain gear, the camera tucked inside my jacket until the rain eases off.

On a wet street people become more like themselves. Some walk faster, and some simply stop under an awning and don’t move.
